    Not Recommended For:

    Growing puppies, pregnant or nursing dogs.

    Patients with hyperlipidemia, pancreatitis, history of pancreatitis or at risk of pancreatitis.


    Evidence-Based Clinical Nutrition:

    Feeding the nutrition of Prescription Diet k/d to dogs with early IRIS Stage 3 chronic kidney disease for 2 years versus a typical adult grocery food was associated with significant benefits including significantly delayed onset of uremic crises by approximately 5 months, living 3 times longer, and improved quality of life (72% less likely to suffer clinical signs associated with kidney disease).1,2

    Prescription Diet k/d has increased dietary buffering capacity. This helps counteract the tendency for metabolic acidosis, a common complication as kidney disease progresses.
